Yesterday, my wife and I attended a kayaking event in Cold Spring, NY. Driving home, a sign caught my eye: “Campaign Furniture”. Well if, like me, read Popular Woodworking magazine, you’ll know that Christopher Schwarz has recently had several articles on this subject.

Campaign furniture is the (ahem) portable furniture used by high ranking military officers in the 18th and 19th centuries. Anyway, there is a historic house/museum that is hosting the display until November. It is the Boscobel House (https://www.boscobel.org/). There is an interesting house tour, lovely grounds, wonderful view of the Hudson River and, for a while, some examples of Campaign Furniture.

If you find yourself in the area, it is worth a visit.
