Mission Statement

A Group for All Levels of Woodworkers and Those with a Commitment to the Community

Founded in 1991, the Long Island Woodworkers is an association whose members share a common interest in woodworking and commitment to the community. Our group is open to persons of all skill levels, from beginners to professional.

A Group with a Variety of Activities

The Long Island Woodworkers develop, promote, increase, cultivate, and foster an understanding and appreciation of the art and science of woodworking through publications and the presentation of exhibitions, film, and lecture programs for the benefit of persons residing in Long Island, New York.

Our meetings feature guest speakers as well as members who share their expertise. Topics covered have included: project planning, construction techniques, gluing, clamping, sharpening, finishing, turning, tool and jig demonstrations, wood carving, and bending. In addition to monthly meetings, we offer the option of joining special interest groups, a newsletter, seminars, field trips, Annual Show and Exhibition, and a wealth of new friendships.

Give Back to the Community

Our group is committed to giving back to the community. We collect woodworking items provided by members for donation to other 501(c)(3) charities and civic organizations for subsequent distribution to aid hospitalized and otherwise needful recipients throughout New York State.
