I have a delta contractor saw with a unifence. Cast iron to the left, laminate to the right with legs under it. Just make sure you have leveling feet of some sort so you can adjust it flat to the saw.

I have one myself, love it. I’ve considered trying to find a second “head” to leave setup with a fence on the right hand side, but it’s hard to find just that and not a whole setup. If someone wants just the rail, lemme know 🙂

Also, I got my first downcut bit when I made a few of the ruler growth charts. The pine I used would chip out a little, so the downcut helped make the shallow grooves cleaner.

    Ditto the presentation comment!

One thing I’m curious about, how would a down it pull the bit out of the collet? It is basically left hand thread, wouldn’t that push the bit up into the collet?

I found a set of Porter Cable (I think…) bits on the clearance shelf at home depot several years ago. Clearance shelves are hard to come by sometimes it seems, but keep your eyes peeled. It looked like someone had taken one bit out and used it and returned it, so I figured if that one bit out of 10 or whatever was dull, I’d sharpen or replace it. They cut clean, have a hex shank, and come in a nice case. No complaints, and I think they work better and have stayed sharper than the orange case “workforce” ones I replaced. The only dedicated forstner bit I’ve purchased is an oddball size for a clock movement. I can snap a pic of it sometime if you want, just shoot me an email.

Do you guys know where she’s located? If there’s a picture of the “assorted hand tools” I’d take a look-see.

I’ll second what everyone else said! I felt like the crowd might not have been as big as past years (curious to know what the numbers say), but they were especially attentive and genuinely interested in the projects and presentations. The work of our club is humbling and inspiring as always, and my son Jack hasn’t put his wooden car down since he got home 🙂
Thanks Jim and everyone else for being gentle on a first-time presenter 🙂
