I have just spent an hour trying to place a new sanding belt,180grit, onto a newly acquired used performax 16 x32 drum sander. The holding clip on the motor side escapes me. I have, on a friends drum sander, replaced belts many times on the same model sander. Now I grant you that the designer of this machine was feed cold oatmeal as a child but why is he taking it out on me? I have read the instructions used the provided tool and prayed to the Saint of drum sanders. If anyone lives near Massapequa Park and knows the required secret to successfully replace the belt lunch is on me.

I wish I saw this earlier. Just got home from Smokin Al’s. I can probably stop by tomorrow or Wed In the late morning to help you with the drum sander.

Thanks to Bob Lerner all is well. There was a piece of sandpaper from the previous belt caught in the holder. We, after a little fumbling got it out and could then install the new belt. Thank you Bob.
