I just bought a new Delta table saw , model 36-725. It has great reviews overall. One of the negatives was about the table top not being flat. I just started unboxing it and mine has a low spot in the middle. Looking left to right it has a low spot of about 20 thousandth of an inch. The gap is worse at the front of the table (before the blade) and disappears at the back of the table. I think my only option is to return it if I can’t live with it, but was hoping for feedback on how big a deal is this?
My current saw is a 30 year old Craftsman, so I feel like I’m going from an antique to a new Cadillac. If I regularly use a Wixey angle gauge, does anyone see this as a major issue? Appreciate any thoughts . Thanks.

I had a problem with my band saw table on delivery and since it had a low spot so I called the manufacturer, Mini-Max. I didn’t want to place tape or jury rig the table to fix their problem. They paid for it to be ground to where it should be. If it will affect the quality of your work, I’d say call them. Maybe they’ll grind it or replace it. Enjoy..

    Hi Tom,

Charlie’s comment is spot on – your saw’s table has a serious flaw and the manufacturer needs to stand behind their product. Give customer service a call and see how they plan to correct the situation. If they opt to do nothing, return the saw for a full refund. Don’t get hooked into the restocking fee trap.

Yea, Tom. I agree with Charlie. Don’t let it go unless you have absolutely no other option. Unless you can guarantee that you will never use a piece of wood small enough to fall into that divot, I think you should get Delta to fix the issue.
